The past couple of weeks, I've had the pleasure of visiting long-time girlfriends. Needless to say, it's been a busy time, involving the pleasure of company, and just getting 'out there' experiencing nature. And tea. And bakeries...
We went to Milner Gardens at Qualicum Beach as they were having a plant sale. And the Tea room was open for lunch. Inside the house was a lot of memorabilia of the current "Royals". Charles and Diana were there when they attended Expo '86 in Vancouver. Her handwriting was very innocent looking, all loopy with a little happy face. Sweet girl. Other Royals, too. Such a beautiful private setting.

I also had the pleasure of peeking into a couple of girlfriends gardens a little closer to home. This one is a perfect example of a Spring garden in Ladysmith.
And the next one is of a summer houses' very old, beautiful garden in Honeymoon Bay.
And now, out to my garden! Enjoy your day.
The Royal Tea that the Honeymoon Bay Society has planned is coming along swimmingly. Many folks thought that selling 200 tea party tickets was optimistic to say the least, however, all the posters advertising the event now have a "SOLD OUT" banner across them. 'Good on ya'!
I've started baking for the tea, and will freeze everything, then decorate it all when I get home from my travels.
I've also been busy in the garden this past week. I know Spring will come eventually, (probably when I'm away) and I want to be prepared! I figure plants will grow when I'm not looking, so I'm giving them every opportunity.
I knew I'd found Mr. Right when I was gifted with a load of manure for the garden as a Valentines gift one year early on in our relationship. True Love.
And here's this years' "I love You" gift, aren't I lucky? Well, I'm off to visit daughters and Grand daughters for Easter, and will return to Blogland early in May, with a tea party up-date and news of our Market.
Ta ta for now.
Relaxing on a Sunday evening, ahhh, lovely.
I've been 'blog-hopping' and came across a reference to Meryl Streeps' potager garden in 'It's Complicated". I remember it well from the movie, not to mention the great kitchen, ... well OK, the whole house! Chic flick for sure, just so much to see!http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/home_blog/2009/12/the-dirt-on-the-its-complicated-vegetable-garden.html
Of course the garden is manufactured, just one big, (and beautiful) prop. But I'll take it!
After driving home from Victoria yesterday and encountering a freak hailstorm that closed the Malahat, I need a little Spring garden fantasy.
Qualicum Beach Seedy Saturday was wonderful. It opened at 10 o'clock, and I was circling the parking lot to find a space at 9:40.
The booths started outside the civic centre and continued into the foyer, down the halls and then they spilled out into the main room. Everything a gardener could wish to see, from recycling, composting and Mason bees, to greenhouses, plants, and fencing. The regular Farmers' Market was on the stage, offering soil blocks of greens, lots of food including jams and eggs and meats. And seeds, seeds, everywhere an opportunity to buy seeds!
There were speakers throughout the day talking about good bugs, good weeds, and saving seeds. And the crowds came!
I hope every booth (there were over 50) had a successful day. I certainly enjoyed your efforts.
Here I am, learning something new!
I'm involved with the Honeymoon Bay Society in putting on a Royal Tea to celebrate the Royal Wedding in April. I'll be making sweet little cupcakes and tarts for the event, and pictures will follow!
We had a wonderful sunny day today, and I was thinking about my lavender garden. It looks pretty pitiful right now, but here's what last year looked like. Before I know it the yard will smell like Provence!
What I'm attempting here is to include a link, so you can read the local papers' article on the up-coming event.
Ta ta for now.
